She completed her studies from Australian Film Television and Radio School. After getting educated Sammy started her career as a breakfast radio presenter. In an interview, she accepted that she worked as a presenter for almost 28 years. In the year 1984, she started her career journey on radio station MIX 106.5 FM.
Power worked there for almost 28 years. In 2012 she returned to Queensland to help her mother. Power explained that at the time of leaving the radio station her weight was almost 122 Kg & she was bored and tired of her job.
