Leila Janah (born October 9, 1982 – died January 24, 2020) was an American Businesswoman based in Lewiston, New York (USA).  In 2008, she launched a company Samasource (Market for Change). Her main idea behind the company was to increase the income of the low-income group people.

Furthermore, she inspired her business idea while living in South Africa and Mumbai (India). Janah transformed the lives of around 50K people through her strong motivation. The workers of Samasource trained with necessary computer skills.

In addition to this, the employees paid a local living wage. Leila created connections with Google, General Motors, and Microsoft. Her social organization named the most innovative company.

In 2014, she became the youngest person to get the Heinz Award (2014). In the World Economic Forum 2012, she was also the youngest leader (Director, CARE USA). However, she died while battling from a rare form of cancer epithelioid sarcoma on January 24, 2020.

Due to a lack of financial security, she faced difficulties in her childhood. She was the child of Indian immigrants, Sahadev Chirayath (Structural Engineer), and Martine Janah (Worker).

Her mom-dad tried hard to provide a better lifestyle. She tutored and did babysitting in her initial stage of life. On the other hand, Leila attended the California Academy of Mathematics and Science.

She received a scholarship from the American Field Services. Moreover, she spent her maximum time in South Africa. She went to the Ghana village and taught English to blind children. Ms. Janah completed her African Development Studies degree at Harvard University.
