A 10-year-old girl was dancing in a parade in Saginaw when a motorcyclist attempting a “wheelie” struck her, injuring her leg, the Michigan State Police reports.
The accident happened at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at South Washington and Janes, in a parade to celebrate Saginaw native Draymond Green’s recent NBA Title victory.

“A motorcycle rider attempted to ride a wheelie in the parade, lost control and landed on a 10-year-old girl, causing a deep laceration to her leg,” according to a Michigan State Police statement.

A wheelie is a maneuver in which a motorcycle is ridden with the front wheel raised off the ground.
After landing on the girl, the motorcycle dragged its rider across the road, hitting another vehicle. The motorcyclist suffered injuries to his head and multiple abrasions, police said.

Photos from the scene appear to show both victims on the ground as police and EMS respond to help.
Police did not provide additional details about the crash or the medical condition of either person involved. The motorcyclist and dancer both were participants of the parade, police said.

Several other motorcycles in the parade were “hot rodding” while driving past spectators lining the street, police said. The crash delayed the parade for nearly a half-hour.
The Saginaw Police Department is handling the crash investigation. A spokesman for the department did not provide additional information Saturday.
Troopers responded to the crash and provided first aid, the state police reports.
Parade watcher Sandra Wooten said the event had just begun when the accident happened, stunning spectators.
“He was popping a wheelie and lost control, and they said he ran into one of the dance girls,” she said. “(He) flew one way and the bike flew another way.”
